Evolution of deformations in medium-mass nuclei

Evolution of quadrupole deformations in sd and pf shell nuclei with mass A= 18∼56 is studied by using deformed Skyrme Hartree-Fock (HF) model with pairing correlations. We point out that the quadrupole deformations of the nuclei with the isospin T=0 and T=1 show strong mass number dependence as a clear manifestation of dynamical evolution of deformation in nuclear many-body systems. The competi...

In-medium similarity renormalization group for nuclei.

We present a new ab initio method that uses similarity renormalization group (SRG) techniques to continuously diagonalize nuclear many-body Hamiltonians. In contrast with applications of the SRG to two- and three-nucleon interactions in free space, we perform the SRG evolution "in medium" directly in the A-body system of interest. The in-medium approach has the advantage that one can approximat...

Construction of spectral functions for medium nuclei

This paper is aimed at improving the description of lepton-nucleus interactions. Approximate spectral functions for oxygen, calcium, and argon are constructed and used to obtain the cross sections for scattering of electrons in a given angle. Comparison with a sample of available experimental data shows satisfactory agreement. Additionally, discrepancy between the presented model and a systemat...

Spectral functions for medium-sized nuclei

The spectral functions for calcium and argon are constructed. It is verified that their predictions for the quasielastic electron-nucleus cross sections in the energy range ∼1 GeV agree with the data. The argon spectral function is then used to obtain the quasielastic neutrino-nucleus cross section.

In-medium Effects in Photo- and Neutrino-induced Reactions on Nuclei

Hadrons, embedded inside nuclei, obviously change some of their properties. They acquire complex selfenergies with the real parts reflecting the binding (or nonbinding) properties and the imaginary parts reflecting the interactions and possibly their changes inside the medium. Particles that are produced through resonances or – at high energies – through strings become physical, on-shell partic...
